We
could not describe incident with the bus of Georgian merchants in Pankis, which
came under fire, as already toward the evening of the same day not far from the
place of incident and entirely next to Georgian checkpoint, one more tragic
event occurred at the entrance to the gorge. Unknown persons fire at light
vehicle of the employees of the Telav police, Senior Lieutenant Mamuka
Machavariani, thirty-six years old.
Policeman passed away along the road to the hospital. This event, as well as
firing of the bus of Georgian merchants, and unsuccessful attempt to apply force
on one of local Taxi drivers, known in the entire region for good relations with
visiting Chechen refugees,
and stealing of cattle from the adjacent Ossetin village, all this occurred at
once. And as if language around the sick tooth, those political events twirl
around, which occur in the Georgian-Russian relations recently.
We
already explained reasons for the Russian background of these diversions. And,
thus it is explained, our predictions in no way seem groundless and naive, if
one considers that practically after all provocations in the region stand the
criminal groupings, connected with Russian special services. The focus first of
all is about the grouping of that killed several months ago of the criminal
authority of Margoshvili, which, on some information, is patronized by FSB.
The case of respect and dignity for both Georgians and Chechens is equal, until
these provocations can explode situation in Pankis. The local residents of
Kistin and Chechen refugees try not to disregard the crimes, which rushed on
Pankis in the last week. The independent search for people participating in the
murder of policeman has begun. Effort of Chechen refugees have revealed and
undertaken hearth to guard criminals, who stole cattle of inhabitants of one of
the Ossetin forces of area. Fourteen heads of cattle, found in the stall of
pilferer, are returned to the masters’ -Ossetins, who personally took their
cattle. Two criminals, the inhabitants of village upper Khalatsan - now wait for
their destiny. They have been imprisoned under the guard by decision of the
council of refugees. And cannot avoid severe punishment by them.
On the basis of last events in the region, Chechens and Georgians in Pankis
still have pass through few tests. So far as Abkhazian problem will not be
solved, so far as the relations of Georgia with West and Russia are shaken, so
far as is not achieved internal stability in the country, out of any
exaggeration and doubt, the inhabitants of Pankis have to sustain basic strike
Both Chechens and Georgians have to do so.
