«Bukesh» - field commander?

Many hundreds of Chechens were locked up in Russian concentration camps, which were called «filtration points».

In the evening on 08.12.2001, Russian television showed serial Chechen field commander, voluntarily returned into the hands of FSB of Russia. He made hum and haw, something about this and that, he said, «he is field commander, fought in the last war» and so forth and the like viewers, including affected by Kremlin propaganda of Russian residents, have long ago become accustomed to similar subjects, which are the product of the joint creation of Russian power holders-terrorists (claiming to the role anti-terrorists) and, zealously operating their criminal interests, propagandists with ORT, RTR and NTV.

The activity of the so-called military correspondents of Russian television channels in the territory of Chechen Republic of Ichkeria need separate conversation. Here I want to describe one of the episodes of the «first Chechen war», which occurred with my direct participation.

Approached toward the end the sixteenth month from the day of the beginning of the aggression of Russia against Chechen Republic of Ichkeria. Hundreds of militiamen - men and women, young and not very, they fell in unequal combat with aggressors. Thousands of peaceful inhabitants, in majority women and children, perished under bombs of Russian aviation and at the hands of Russian mercenaries. Many hundreds of Chechens were put in Russian concentration camps, which were called «filtration points». The capital of Chechnya was full of ruins, because it did not want to be returned to horde of aggressors. Tens of villages were effaced from face of the ground and hundreds of refugees left native land shedding blood.

March 21, 1996. Our small group, which consisted of seven people, from the southern side approached to village Orekhovo (Yandi), in the West of Chechnya. The most elder among us was twenty-two years; the youngest was hardly of 16 years. We were armed with two automatic AK-74 guns, five with automatic AKM and two of us had on one grenade-gun «Muha». On the average each of us had 120-130 cartridges. We were dressed in random uniforms. Some were wearing military form of the sample of Russian army. Some in civilian, while some others in that and in this simultaneously. The sounds of battle began to reach us still from a distance. Noise of helicopters was changed by shell bursts and bombs, which followed firing of heavy machine gun. Some of the projectiles were torn up directly in the forest, practically at some hundreds of meters from us and were oriented at us.

Target of our march was small village Stariy Achkhoi, located at five hundred meters to the West from the Orekhovo. Both villages were abandoned by inhabitants even in the beginning of April of 1995 and since then there occupied positions hundreds of militiamen from different regions of Chechnya. In the morning of 21st March, we came to know, that Russians undertook the assault of this village and we decided to proceed with aid to its defenders. After leaving our mud hut in the foothills and after passing three ten kilometers through the hilly forests and swamps, about three hours of day, we left the forest and like snakes entered into Orekhovo from southern side. It was clear up to this moment that Russians concentrated entire of their fire already on Orekhovo.

Aircraft and artillery of Russians continuously bombed space along the five-hundred-meter road, which connected Orekhovo with old Achkhoi, along which were located positions of our soldiers. Shells and bombs increased more frequently and more frequently began to fall already around us, forcing us again and again to position on the ground. Everything, which occurred around us, it spoke about seriousness of position. I clearly visualized that I can not return from this «crusade». The nearer we come to this scorching heat, the stronger became my desire to dip in the battle.

Some times, looking at my own people, in general, casual combat comrades, I noted not a single sign of fear in their behavior. On the contrary, I saw in them the same obsession, which enveloped me. Suddenly, in meters of hundred from us, we watched group of armed people. These were our Chechens. They were five men, but they were armed, on our measures, in the best way. Five soldiers had two RPG-7 (Rocket Propelled Grenade), with several shells in the bags on the back, one machine-gun RPK and two automatic-guns. They went by rapid steps; almost they ran. Thus far the time when they passed by us to the south, to the side of forest, we had time to exchange with them several phrases:

- From where do you come? What is in the front? What is happening in Starai Achkhoi? These were our questions – In Starai Achkhoi battle! Russians began to approach in the morning! In their voices panicky moods were too clearly noticeable. After suspecting, that they flee, I asked: Where are you going, if there is battle? Perhaps people are not necessary there? And where are all others? -We intend to strike from the side of forest! We heard in the response.

When we reached the positions of our soldiers, we learned, that those five, who went «to strike from the side of forest», in reality ran from the battlefield. They were from Shatoi and commander in them was someone in the name of Bukesh.. As was told to us then by Taus Bugarayev, hero and real commander (killed during March, 2000 years in combat in Komsomolskoye), who was also by origin from Shatoi in their village, as everywhere, also cowards are sufficient. This «Bukesh» with his cheaters thus fought in the first war, that his «fame» is still alive among the real soldiers of Chechen resistance.

Beginning from the end of August of 1996, when it became already clear that Russians lost, this Bukesh as many others similar to him «hero», began to grow beard. After appropriating to himself the title of «Brigadier General», and after surrounding his with dozens similar to him, he for three years was busy in usual thefts. There was nothing audible about him since the beginning of the current war. When suddenly, in the evening on 8th December, on the channel of NTV was shown serial of the field commander, who surrendered to FSB of Russia. Said-Ali Garbulatov, to us is presented this «hero». So here is famous Bukesh and this «field commander» - This is that one and the same person.
