Sharon requires victims from Arafat

Sheik Ahmed Yassin was arrested despite the fact that previously Arafat rejected the demands of Tel-Aviv to arrest Islamic leaders of Palestine.

The massive demonstrations of the supporters of Hamas in the Gaza took the shape of clashes with police of Arafat, report information sources. On the night of Thursday and during entire last day in Gaza were conducted massive demonstrations of Palestinians in support of the founder of Sheik Ahmed Yassin of Hamas, place under home arrest on personal indication of Arafat. As reported Qatari TV channel, «al-Jazeera», during protest, fire was opened on Palestinians. Started exchange of fire, as a result of which three people were injured. One of them later on passed away in the hospital. Arafat police confirmed, «it was forced to begin shooting into air».

Meanwhile soldiers of Hamas, reports BBC news, freed sheikh Ahmet Yasin from home arrest. In the morning on Thursday in front of the house of Yassin occurred skirmish between Arafat police and activists of Hamas. Arafat police were forced to step back.

Sheik Ahmed Yassin was arrested despite the fact that previously Arafat rejected demands of Tel Aviv to arrest Islamic leaders of Palestine. «We slant Israeli demands and threats, which will bring no fruits», stated, in this connection, to Spanish agency EFE by representative of Arafat during talks with Israeli Sayeb Erakat. «How can Israel give us some time-period and demand arresting Palestinian activists, if there does exist no guarantees, that the combat aircrafts and helicopters will not continue to fire our objects?», said Erakat. Arafat administration considers that Israel must begin fulfillment of the so-called proposals of the commission of Mitchell and plans of Tenet.

It became known at the same time on Thursday that congress of USA passed resolution, which requires that President Bush would cut off relations with Yasser Arafat. Relations with Palestine will be cut off, if Palestinian side does not undertake immediate measures for averting of further terror acts against Israel. In the senate, this resolution was introduced by chairman of senate committee on foreign affairs, Democratic senator, Joseph Bayden, noted for his active pro-Israeli position.

In the House of Representatives, initiator of document became chairman of committee on international relations of chamber of congressman-Republican, Henry Hyde. The senators and congressmen passed resolution with overwhelming majority. Resolution calls terrorist acts against Israel «villainous terrorist murders». It demands Yasser Arafat and so-called Palestinian administration immediately to suppress new attempts of terrorist acts and to destroy «infrastructure of Palestinian terrorist groups».

According to the acting regulations of congress, the resolution – «expression of opinion» of American legislators, was passed, and it is not directive document, required for the performance by White House. At the same time in the resolutions of the congress and senate at all is not mentioned about the practice of political murders and failure of Israel to carry out resolution of UN on de occupation of Palestinian territories.
