The
assistant of the leader of the Service of international relations of the State
office of the Georgia, adviser of the President of the country, Shalva
Pichkhadze after visit of Eduard Shevardnadze on November 29-30 to Moscow
declares, that he again was convinced of the faithfulness of the foreign policy
course of official Tbilisi, which was directed toward integration to the western
structures. As stated Shalva Pichkhadze to a number of the Georgian mass media,
Georgia has no alternative in the plan of integration into NATO and European
union. If Georgia was member of these two international organizations, there
would be no problems, connected with Pankis gorge, Abkhazia, and natural gas, he
noted. The President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze on 30th November
in Moscow took part in the session of the council of the heads of the member
states of CIS.
At
this session, Shevardnadze tried to raise the problem of the repeated
bombardments of Georgian territory by Russian aviation. However, Vladimir Putin
in his special statement refused these charges in the address of Kremlin. In the
opinion of Putin, if there were bombardments, then there must be victims. But
there are no victims, means there were no bombardments. Judging by the
restrained reaction of Shevardnadze, for so deceitful and impudent statement of
Putin, Georgian President did not considered necessary to raise the issue in
Summit of CIS, however Shevardnadze was only bound to the opinion, that somewhat
more rapidly to be detached from Russian orbit, obviously. And the direct
confirmation of this is the statement of Pichkhadze.
It
became meanwhile known that Georgian Foreign Minister, Irakli Menagarishvili
will take part in the annual meeting of the heads of MFA of North Atlantic
council, which takes place on 7th December in the staff office of
NATO in Brussels. As reported in department according to the connections with
the community and information of MFA of Georgia, the wide spectrum of
military-political questions will be examined at the meeting. Irakli
Menagarishvili in his speech at the meeting will point out position of the
authorities of Georgia in connection with last events in the country. The
subject of Russian bombardments of Georgian territory will be separately
isolated. Many observers expect that NATO can go for strengthening of Air
Defense of Georgia, independent of the fact that how Moscow will react to this.
