With
Chechen commander Salman Raduyev, I met during July of 1997. Subsequently, when
he accepted responsibility of almost all terrorist acts, he was repeatedly the
witness of the fact that somehow will not agree image of «silly» Raduyev with
the fact that he said: In Caucasus begins new stage and in this stage Azerbaijan
will become leading state of region. The thought, expressed by strange field
commander, only more lately became reality.
I
tried to obtain answers from his wife, Lida Raduyeva, to the questions,
connected with mysterious arrest of Raduyev, with the slander, that Salman
almost the colleague of FSB, and on other questions. I will recall that the
mother Of Lida Raduyeva and Johar Dudayev - sibling brother and sister.
Lida
Raduyeva was born in 1966. She is nurse by specialty. In 1993, she became part
of Salman’s family. During the first war, she worked in the staff of Dzhokhar
Dudayev. Impression at first glance is created, that she is a demanding,
imperious woman. Lida, who unwillingly agreed for the interview, tried to give
new nuances to the portrait of Salman, known in Russia as terrorist.

Under what circumstances was arrested Salman?

On 13 March of year 2000 on the television of Turkey, I heard about his arrest.
Then I learned, that during that day, at 8 o’clock in the evening, Salman with
comrades arrived into settlement
of
Novogrozny. But at 6 A.m., he was gripped, while sleeping in the bed. FSB almost
year followed him and only with the aid of the national-traitors arrested him.
On
beginning of «second» Chechen war, Salman also learned in Turkey, where he was
treated. He was operated 4 times in a row. As soon as was passed the action of
narcosis, doctors prepared him for the new operation. He already was incapable
to fight. When he returned to Grozny, he was still very weak. He changed the
prosthesis of eye, hemorrhoid bone, made cosmetic operation. Since then, since
August of 1999, I did not see him.

They indicate that Salman Raduyev is mentally unhealthy.

For the first time, he was injured on 3 March 1996. In the field hospital, his
eye was removed. In addition to this, he for 7 times was seriously injured with
the attempts on his life. But psychological state was normal.

Why did Raduyev not prevent creation to himself of the image of cruel person?

By his each movement and statement, he tried to do harm to Russia. But at the
same time, Salman made nothing that, in what he confessed. And he was not a
sadist. He was a fighter, but never could cut off ear/eye or cut man. He was
dealing with Russian prisoners in humanly manner. Salman understood, that no one
of the 17 years old Russian youths was guilty, that they are blindly
subordinated to order.

And how did Raduyev explain events in the village of Pervomaisk?

He entered into Pervomaisk in order to stop war in Chechnya. Let others
understand and feel that what means to die under bomb rain. In the Pervomaisk
were killed 20 Chechens soldiers. Innocent civilians, it is possible to say, do
not suffer.
Salman
defended the interests of Chechen republic. He did not want to enter into
Pervomaisk. On the order of Dudayev, they had to take Kizlyar’s
airfield, whence Russian aircraft and helicopters rose into air in order to bomb
Chechnya. But on the airfield were discovered altogether only two helicopters.
In
order to ensure his safety, the group of Salman was forced to take hospital.
During the talks with Russians, the group of Salman Raduyev was promised the
corridor for the exit into Chechnya, but instead of their corridor, they were
pushed towards Pervomaisk, where the Khunkpash
Israilov took upon himself responsibility of Pervomaisk operation. After this,
came the hearing, that in the Pervomaisk, Russians seated Salman in the
helicopter and sent him into Chechnya.

Is it true, that Raduyev did use the special respect by Johar Dudayev? Russian
press wrote that Johar Dudayev increased rating of Salman.

If this was in reality, then why Dudayev did not give road to his other
relatives for example, to my brothers. Salman attained all by his hardworking.
With
Salman, I was introduced in 1992, when he was prefect person of Gudermes. I then
worked as secretary of Dzhokhar Dudayev. Dudayev approved the ideas of Salman.
For example, Salman created the institute of business and right in Gudermes,
where all prefects passed the courses of control. He was young and very
energetic. Each day, he came with new ideas and proposals.

Women, who made explosion in Pyatigorsk, stated that they are the mistresses of
Salman Raduyev and they acted on his advice.

This is a lie. Under the tortures is possible not similar to claim. Answers to
all questions can give open court trial with the participation of community and
journalists.

is it possible in your view to justify people, who withstood severe treatment to
their family, and then who manifest cruelty with respect to others?

Is it possible to consider person, who lost everything, relatives, close people,
who were killed and were tortured before his eyes, to be mentally healthy? But
if this is a sick person, then it is not necessary to charge him for further
behavior.
Chechens
saw nothing good since 1994. Life after war was entirely difficult. Each wanted
to break large piece for himself. But simple people did not find even bread.

In the first Russian-Chechen war, families of commanders were living in Chechnya.
But now the families of all known fighters, including Maskhadov, left the native
land.

When began «second» war, I was staying in Turkey. But Salman, after
interrupting his treatment, returned to Grozny. When Salman rang, I said that I
want to be close to you. But he said that situation in Chechnya is not that as
it was during «first» war and forbad me to return to the country.
In
Chechnya, everything is upside down. Therefore no one of the field commanders
left their families there. I think, if he was near to me, no one could betray
him. In «first» war, I did not let him go out of sight. When he slept, I kept
awake. This war is terrible. Earlier we did not have children and I was calm,
but now I fear for them.

Whether relations between former combat comrades and Salman Raduyev were tense?
-
Ismailov Aslanbek respected him for the fact that Salman spoke completely truth,
openly in the face. But Basayev little considered about him. Nevertheless Salman
with anyone, even with Shamil had no conflicts. Many, even if they did not
openly acknowledge, in the hearts understood that Salman in the formation, in
ideology and intellect is considerably higher than them. Khattab also respected
him and he spoke that, if Salman will not say much, then he will not priceless.

Are there are many friends of Salman?
-
No, very few of them remained. Many betrayed him. In essence impoverished people
supported him. Salman does not love to share his agitations. He suffered from
the treachery of friends and indicated that it is necessary to suffer. He said,
«God will judge». Those people, on whom he trusted, it is possible to say, all
were killed. Salman, even knowing those responsible of the attempts on his life,
did not hurry to blame them.

In all difficulties of life, you were
near. What did he want to see you as a housewife, or something else?
-
I always wanted to be housewife. Salman did not agree. «I need friend» - he
said. Whatever work he began, I must be his right hand, and participate in
solutions of all questions.
I
respect Salman for patriotism. Greatly I miss him too much. Our sons Dzhokhar
and Zelimkhan also miss him too much. They think that father is at war. Very
frequently they say: How long dad is wars.
