This
time on 30 October - the day of political prisoner is celebrated almost as
official holiday. In Lubyanka square, one-and-a-half thousand people with flags,
transparencies, and flowers. High-ranking guests from the administration of the
President, government of Moscow and other important departments are present.
They speak about the eternal memory. Among the honorable guests are noticed
Yavlinskiy, Nemtsov, and former member of Central Committee, Yakovlev, now also
known as a big Democrat, all of them were available in the function.
The
organizers of the celebration dedicated it to the initiative of the victims of
political repressions in USSR, already very imperatively requested us, to all
possible «marginal» and «radicals» so that there should be no extremist
posters and excesses in this case. It is understandable that for the organizers
of celebration would be awkward in front of the higher authorities, to protest
during celebration. Therefore, they categorically forbade us to bring the
posters, which indicate today's thousand political prisoners, punished ones, and
about the victims of the hourly and daily shot Chechen people.
But
we could not help ourselves, and however, brought and unrolled such posters.
Official authorities preferred not to note all this at all. Considerably more
interesting was to speak not about any of such things. There were safe and mild
speeches about the general political repressions, about the heavy heritage of
cursed socialism? Then still for long and tediously they enumerated, who in what
sequence will put wreath on the Solovetsian stone. And no one of the organizers,
as this was Moscow "memorial", or guests, has not with a single word
mentioned that what is happening now, during this most solemn moment, somewhere
in the Grozny, Vedeno, Gudermes, or the Shali with any unarmed Chechen, who
might have become, or becomes the prisoner of concentration camp or the victim
of political terror only on the fact of his generation, on his nationality.
There
were no speeches at this meeting about the fact that since the beginning of this
year, from that moment itself, as «counter-terrorist operation» in Chechnya
was started to drive by that FSB itself, which is direct successor to VChK-NKVD,
in the entire territory of republic under the guise of cleanings and
specials-operation, new State Security Agents began to the utmost extent
practice of the methods of the squadrons of death. Even Stalin’s did not
practice such repressions. Then for the hangmen of GB, it was important not
simply to knock out from the man confession, but also it was necessary that he
at least would live until the law court. Nowadays are other times. There are no
courts, charges, protocols, and sentences. Accordingly no ceremonies of game
into the legality are required. Under the conditions, when the assumed
participant in the resistance is delayed simply so, even not on the denunciation,
but on the whim of patrol, any one does not examine any proofs of his fault.
There
is short «intensive» examination, and liquidation. That is all. Hence is
improbable, beyond the limits is cruelty of today's chastisers. But about this
was decided to keep silent. And they kept silent. By for them, it is not
shameful, for them the main thing - not to quarrel with the authorities. Like as
Human Rights Activists. Like as memorial. Honor of which save only ones, such as
Alexander Cherkasov, who stated at his press conference, that Chechen resistance
will battle until the recognized and singularly lawful President of Ichkeria,
Aslan Maskhadov sits down at the table of negotiations on basis of equality with
the Russian leadership. Human Right Activists, who speak today truth, is highly
rarity.
Almost
no one hears them. Mass Media makes no complaints. Great politicians and chiefs
do not embrace them. Yes even our practice on the curb of large meeting was
little to whom visible. Sourly and sadly, probably all this was visible to those
politicians, who for the first time in the Mordvinian camps in 1974 precisely on
30 October conducted secret memorial prayer for millions of victims of Communist
regime. For ALL those destroyed by punitive machine of state security. It was
unpleasantly to see, as this day of civilian resistance was converted into the
measure for galoshka.
