«Kavkaz-Center»
offers interview of the captured lieutenant colonel of the Russian
occupant-terroristic grouping, who was arrested by Chechen mujahideen at the end
of September during realization common military operations in a number of areas
of a foothill part of the country. It is note worthy, that interview and the
conversation, which has followed later on, was broadcasted on several radio
stations simultaneously. Interview was given to the correspondent of radio «Kavkaz»,
which broadcasts its programs for all Caucasian regions on radio communication.
We offer shorthand of interview and conversation, which followed later on. We
similarly appeal o all interested sides to render feasible participation in the
issue of exchange of the captured Russian lieutenant colonel on peaceful Chechen
inhabitants, including the Chechen women, who were seized by occupants during
retaliatory actions.

In which unit you were serving and how were you taken prisoner?
Boryaev:
Military commandant's office of Vedeno district. I was captured, when I
accompanied a convoy, including peaceful population from the Shali in Elistanzhi.

When
did it happen?
Boryaev:
It happened on September 29 of this year.
Question:
Where
have you come from? Tell about the family?
Boryaev:
I am from Nizhniy
Novgorod
region. My father is electrician, works in state farm. Mother is pensioner.

Are
you a regular officer?
Boryaev:
Yes, I am the regular officer. Studied in the Saratov school. Completed it in 91st
year. These are rocket armies. After that served in Ukraine and in Moscow
military circles.

When
were transferred to Chechen Republic?
Boryaev:
Here I am since July 23, 2000.

On
what post, and in what rank are you employed?
Boryaev:
My rank is lieutenant colonel. The post is of assistant of the military
commandant on artillery. I am the senior officer of operations section of
commandant's office of Vedeno district.

participated in bombardments?
Boryaev:
I did not participate in bombardments, as artillery was not present at commandant's
office. There is department to coordinate bombardments of area, but for
this purpose, there are no powers.

And
since how long time are you in commandant's office?
Boryaev:
Since July 23 of this year. As soon as I arrived, since that time I was
deployed here.

As
you are in Vedeno since years, means know, how there were events in Vedeno, when
divisions of mujahideen came to regional center?
Boryaev:

Events were. There were bombardments of commandant's office. There were
fights. The check-post on road in area of Tsa-Vedeno was destroyed... Then there
were strong fights near to Vedeno. There were big losses from our side. A lot of
military engineering and people were lost. We were constantly attacked. It
proceeded several days.

Tell,
the Chechen side undertakes attempts to exchange you, on the war prisoners, for
example?
Boryaev:
Yes, it has been told to me, that they want to exchange me. They told, that they
want to exchange me for peaceful Chechen women, who have been arrested in time
of cleaning, but exactly on whom was not told to me.
Question:
It
was told to me that commandant’s office refuses an exchange?
Boryaev:
Yes so, in principle, it will be. Probably, so I think, most likely, any exchange
will not happen.

If sincerely, till captivity I considered, that simply gangs are moving
here, torn off, without anything, beggars and so on. Now I see, it is the strong organization.
It is very strong-willed organization, which has certain command. It is visible
in what that occurs to me.
Still
it seems to me, here cannot be winners. It seems to me, that Chechen people
confirmed it for all time of their presence in mountains of Caucasus. How
much time, he exists in mountains of Caucasus, so much he is at war.
Strength of mind, certainly, is more of mujahideen. They know, for what
they struggle. We have many contract soldiers, who now come to earn money.
Though you see, it is possible and much easier to earn this money in other ways
if they go behind money.

As you know, in brief, we today asked to exchange for peaceful people, for women,
who did not participate in war, who are with them now, while serious answer is

Shari’ah. If during these some days, they will not give us serious answer, we
