Georgian
Television - First state channel and Tele-company «Rustavi-2» informs, that
Georgian guerrilla and subdivisions of North-Caucasian fighters entered Sukhumi
and took control of T.V. station. It is also informed that allied groups of
Georgian and North-Caucasians have occupied the streets and squares of city and
strengthening their positions. It is also informed that residents of the area
are leaving for Sochi.
«Rustavi-2»
informs that that the groups entering Sukhumi appealed to Tbilisi to send
regular army to the capital of Abkhazia, for the defense of peaceful citizens. It
is marked that Abkhazian side denies the reports, calling it disinformation.
However Georgian T.V. channels are continuing to inform about clashes in
Sukhumi.
Later in
the evening on Monday in the live transmission of «Rustavi-2», representative
of «Abkhaz-press» announced that there are no fights in the city.
Correspondent of «Frans-press» and «Kavkaz-Center» later in the evening on
Monday contacted with Sukhumi and there were informed that all members of the
state are staying on their places. In interview with Russian Mass-Media, Deputy
Defence Minister of Abkhazia, Garry Kupalba declared, «sustaining complete
defeat in Kodori Gorge of Abkhazia, similarly, official Tbilisi wants to
maintain some victory even in words». Official Tbilisi is not commenting at all
on the reports of the Georgian T.V. channels. However, on confirmation of
Georgian guerrilla group, clashes are proceeding in suburbs of the region
Sukhumi.
Earlier,
representative of Abkhazian state already announced that Georgian-North-Caucasia groups have been destroyed and are retreating towards
Russian and Georgian borders in odd group of 10-15 persons. However, Georgian
side denies these reports. At the same time, correspondent of «Kavkaz-center»
came to know from a source near to command of North-Caucasian group that during
the clashes
in
Kodori
Gorge
were killed 4 North-Caucasian fighters.
