Planes
of other country flied above Kodori Gorge on Wednesday, but this time there was
no bombardments, Georgian State Security Minister, Vakhtang Kutateladze declared
to journalists. As he said, planes have appeared on the part of Sukhumi and have
disappeared in the same direction. At the order of special services of Georgia,
there is a radio interception of negotiations of the Russian military men, in
which it is reported: «bombardment is completed, and helicopters are leaving
territory of Georgia». At session of council of national safety of Georgia on
Tuesday in the evening was discussed conditions in Abkhazia and measures on
safety of the Georgian population of Kodori Gorge, in whose territory have
bombed planes and helicopters without recognition symbols in the morning on
Tuesday.
Georgian
Deputy State Security Minister, Simon Nozadze excludes intervention of official
Tbilisi in armed conflicts taking place in Abkhazia. As declared Simon Nozadze
to Prime-News, at the state level of the country, there are not present and
never will be connections with the Georgian guerrillas and battling on their
side «several tens of Northern Caucasians, among whom are Chechens and
Kabardians». As he said, armed conflicts in Abkhazia have provocative character.
The opportunity of settlement of the conflict in Abkhazia is not finished by
political and peace methods and in this connection, authorities of Georgia
maintain constant contacts to the Abkhazian side, deputy minister told.
In
the meantime, Abkhazian side betrays the inconsistent information on losses of
the sides in last fights in Kodori Gorge and national structure of imperceptible
group with which the Abkhazian armed formations are at war. On Wednesday in the
evening, authorities in Sukhumi declared, that one Chechen was killed and two
were taken in captivity by Abkhazian formations as a result of operation in
Gulripsh district against Georgian-North Caucasian group. According to the
representative of Abkhaz Defence Ministry, losses among Abkhazians in this
operation are not present. However, earlier all same representatives of Ministry
of Defense informed about 20 killed and 40 wounded Abkhazian fighters.
Later
appeared the information denying previous reports. One Arab and one
Azerbaijanian - citizen of Georgia are killed during operation of the Abkhazian
army against the mixed group in Gulripsh district, Abkhaz Foreign Minister
Sergey Shamba informed already. As against representatives of Defence Ministry
of republic, he refrained to name the exact data on losses of the sides.
According to Abkhazian investigation, minister informed, this group could
receive a reinforcement of a number of up to 700 fighters. According to Sergey
Shamba, Abkhazia while asks volunteers, who have already arrived to republic
from Northern Caucasus and south of Russia not to participate in operations,
expecting "to put things in order by own forces».
If
the Georgian authorities will not support the guerrilla and insurgents, Abkhazia
will not declare general mobilization, he told. As he said, Abkhazian leader
Vladislav Ardzinba personally supervises efforts against guerrilla and
insurgents and if necessary will address to Abkhazian people for general
mobilization. It is necessary to remind, that some days back shown on the
Russian TV seized by Abkhazian in fight "captured Chechen" appeared
inhabitant of Kabardino-Balkaria, whence, under the statement of Sukhumi, but
volunteers for war with Georgian-North Caucasian group are arriving.
Inconsistent announcements of Sukhumi so have confused the situation, which many
observers and journalists prefer to use the Russian and Georgian data, ignoring
announcements of the Abkhazian side.
Russia
in case of a deepening of crisis in Abkhazia can send an additional military
contingent there. About it, referring to military sources, the Moscow newspaper
writes «Vremia Novosti». Military sources of the newspaper explain such
opportunity of essential performance of obligations to Georgia that contents of
warehouses and all infrastructure of Gudauta of 50th Russian military
base «will not get in another's hands». «In conditions when under pressure of
Tbilisi, guards of base is reduced below reasonable limits to provide safety of
object in crisis conditions is unreal», - ascertains «Vremia Novosti». As the
newspaper writes, Moscow is also worried about safety of the Russian peacemakers
in Abkhazia.
«The
Structure and arms of a peace-making grouping provides an opportunity of its
normal activity only in the event that the sides of the conflict avoid
large-scale military actions», - newspaper marks. «At last, arising of new «terrorist
enclave» in immediate proximity from Russian borders in Northern Caucasus
threatens also to safety of Russia», mark military sources. According to the
newspaper if Moscow will give OK to implementation of operation, it will pass
under the scenario of worked out nine more years back by Russian VDV.
In
October 1992, in the heat of military actions in Abkhazia, on air station
Bombora near Sukhumi within two-three day was urgently thrown 345th
Para borne regiment. Moscow, as specifies the newspaper, authorized
implementation of operation under the informal name of "Aircraft carrier"
after which it became clear, that divisions of 19th army of air
defense covering Bombora cannot keep it. «The Present situation duplicates
events of 1992 so, operation of «aircraft carrier – 2» may be required, -
the newspaper writes «Vremia Novosti».
