Conditions
in CRI have not undergone essential changes. Mobile subdivisions of the Chechen
armed forces still are attacking on the opponent in all directions combining
tactics of guerrilla war, diversions and local special actions. If in large
settlements of Ichkeria, mobile groups are carrying out explosions and attack on
invaders from ambushes, in a mountain and foothill part of the country,
divisions of mujahideen even more often carry out unexpected local operations
with application of forces of the battalion rank.
In
southern areas of the country, position of aggressors are subjected to
continuous shelling action with application of large-caliber machine-guns,
self-made installations for use of Unguided
Reactive Shell
(NURS’) С-5
and С-8,
and similarly mortars, mountain-guns and grenade-guns. About increasing firing
activity of mujahideen testifies the fact that many divisions of occupational
grouping do not put resistance and are independently removed from the positions.
According to the Chechen side, units of 45th and 51st
paratrooper regiments were relocated from Vedeno district after soldiers have
actually refused to carry out orders of command during aggravation of situation
in this area, when Chechen divisions some times attacked regional center of
Vedeno and neighboring settlements.
Another
evidence of low moral spirit of the Russian invaders is large-scale flight of
the soldier of one of divisions of the occupational grouping, a deployed in area
Engenoev ridge in Nozhai-Yurtov district of the country. According to Chechen
side at night on October 11, about 30 aggressors deserted from the unit and left
towards settlement Sayasan. Reconnaissance groups of mujahideen report about
serious alarm event in this connection among the remaining soldiers of this unit.
During day light above a zone of possible presence of deserters were flying
fighting Russian helicopters. About 15 hours on local time, helicopters have put
massive rocket attack on settlement of Sayasan of Nozhai-Yurtov district. As a
result of bombardment were killed at least 10 peaceful inhabitants, including
four children of preschool age. Some houses were destroyed. Domestic cattle of
peasants which were grazing in several hundreds meters from settlement have
undergone to purposeful destruction.
Chechen
side informs, that invaders conduct intensive search of fugitives with the help
of helicopters and planes. However, till now their location is not established.
Chechen command has given an order to begin independent search of deserters.
Late at night on Thursday, information on desertion of 11 more soldiers from 66th
regiment, deployed in area of regional center Vedeno has appeared.
