War began in Abkhazia?

Early in the morning on Tuesday, Russian planes bombed Kodori Gorge.

Commander of the Georgian guerrilla group «Lesnie bratia (Wood brothers)», David Shengelia confirms that in Abkhazia has already gathered such force of the movement of resistance, which does not represent the big work to take Sukhumi. As he said, on the eve, guerrillas have taken the village Machara located at 6 kilometers from Sukhumi. Thus he categorically denied the fact of execution by guerrillas of local residents and accused Abhazians for it. David Shengelia stated rebukes in address of authorities of Georgia, which «do not support armed force of the movement of Resistance in Abkhazia». «Guerrillas will continue to render local, but painful raids until resistance from their side will not be broken», - he noted.

David Shengelia is sure, that in the morning on Tuesday, Russian aircraft bombed Georgian villages of Kodori Gorge. In interview with Georgian MASS MEDIA, he named as «cynical», statements of representatives of Sukhumi that planes and helicopters of the Air Forces of Georgia have made bombing attacks on Georgian villages of this area of Abkhazia. Raids from air on the Georgian villages of Kodori Gorge are «continuation of that provocation, which Russia arranged on Monday, having brought down above Kodori Gorge of the helicopter of mission of military observers of the United Nations», declared David Shengelia.

In turn, Abkhazian and Russian sides accuse Georgia of air strikes. At least, five peace inhabitants of the Abkhazian and Armenian nationalities were lost and some have received wounds as a result of bombing attack of the Georgian military aircraft on villages of Abkhazia on Tuesday in the morning, declared Deputy Defence Minister of Abkhazia, Vyacheslav Ankvab. As he said, villages in which peaceful inhabitants suffered have been specified. He noted, that Georgian helicopters and planes for support of those falling in siege of Georgian guerrillas and North Caucasian fighters.

Meanwhile, as declared in the Georgian boundary department, on Tuesday in the morning at 5:10 in Kodori Gorge, helicopters without obvious symbols made bombing attacks on vicinities of the Georgian villages Lata and Chkhalta. Then, 6 planes without recognition symbols fired at summer pastures in village Sakeni and left towards Kluhorskoe pass on the Georgian-Russian border. Some aerial bombs exploded also at village Omarishari. The Georgian population lives in these villages. In frontier department of Georgia yet have no information on victims and destructions. To the place of incident were urgently sent Georgian frontier guards.

The Deputy Defence Minister of Georgia, Gela Bejuashvili appealed on Tuesday to embassy of Russia in Georgia, to act against the stream of disinformation that Georgian aircraft supposedly bombed Kodori Gorge. Gela Bejuashvili informed, that he personally talked by phone to the Charge d'Affaires ad interim in affairs of the Russian Federation in Georgia, Alexander Sharonov. According to Deputy Defence Minister of Georgia, Russian MASS MEDIA carry out intentional anti-Georgian information campaign.

The Deputy Defence Minister of Georgia, Gela Bejuashvili declares, that Russian bombed villages of Kodori gorge on Tuesday in the morning. He told, that it «will be proved». In Kodori Gorge, as he said, there are representatives of Defence Minister of Georgia, who will find material evidences of that the Russian planes or helicopters took part in this bombardment. According to him, Abkhazia has «certain air forces», but the Georgian frontier guards officially declare, that such two planes, which are not present in arms of the Air Forces of unrecognized Republic Abkhazia, participated in this strike. «It is absurd to accuse Georgian aircraft of bombardment of Kodori Gorge», - told Gela Bejuashvili. If participation of Russia in this strike will be proved, it will receive the appropriate estimation, international sounding as it is territory of the sovereign state, told Gela Bejuashvili. Deputy Minister noted, that, in his opinion, Russia is going to keep not only military base in Gudauta, but also as a whole to increase the military presence in Georgia. In his opinion, the same purpose - to keep or even to increase military presence in Georgia - pursue the conversations that in Abkhazia from among the Georgian and Northern-Caucasians will perish peaceful inhabitants of the Armenian nationality.

On Tuesday, the report in the morning has reached, that Georgia is not going to carry out mobilization actions in reply to partial mobilization of reservists of Abkhazian side, which confirms about intrusion into republic of Georgian guerrilla and North Caucasian group. The Deputy Defence Minister of Georgia, Gela Bejuashvili declared, that Georgia «does not begin war with Abkhazia». The Defence Minister of Georgia has no relation to that what is now occurring in territory of Abkhazia, he noted.
