On
the preliminary data, helicopter of mission of the United Nations on Monday was
brought down in area of village Amtkel, Northwest of Sukhumi, near to village
Georgievskoe, for which on October 3 to 4, there were armed conflicts between
Abkhazian formations and Georgian-North Caucasian group. About it was informed
by sources close to Sukhumi mission of military observers of the United Nations.
As declared in mission of military observers of the United Nations to Tbilisi,
now on the place of incident, UN observers and Russian peacemakers are sent from
Sukhumi.
On
the preliminary data, all nine persons, taking place onboard of brought down
helicopter on Monday above Kodori Gorge of Abkhazia of mission of United Nations
in control of Georgia, were lost, have informed in power structures of
Republic of Abkhazia. Onboard of brought down helicopter Mi-8, there were the
five UN observers, three members of crew and translator – Abkhazian by
nationality.
The
commander working on territory of Abkhazia of the Georgian guerrilla group of «Wood
brothers», David Shengeliya asserts that the helicopter of mission of military
observers of the United Nations in the morning on Monday was brought down above
Kodori Gorge either by Russian, or Abkhazian military men. As the guerrilla,
declared Shengeliya, neither Georgian, nor North Caucasian armed group working
in area Kodori Gorge are not present on arms of mobile antiaircraft - rocket
complexes. And the helicopter was brought down, most likely, with use of such
complex, commander told «Wood brothers».
To
force down the helicopter of the United Nations today is favorable only for the
Russian side, declares Shengelia. As he said, it is beforehand planned
provocation directed against Georgia. Independent Georgian military expert,
Irakli Aladashvili in interview of a Prime - News told, that helicopter of
mission of the United Nations could be brought down by a portable antiaircraft -
rocket complex such as «Strela-2М»,
«Strela-3М»
or the «Igla», capable to amaze the air purposes at height up to 3,5
kilometers and radius of action up to 5 kilometers. On words of Aladashvili,
during war in Abkhazia 1992-1993 years from such complexes forced down Georgian
planes and helicopters.
If
the helicopter of mission of the United Nations flied at height above 3,5
kilometers to bring down it, was only possible with use of an antiaircraft -
rocket complex «Buk - M1», expert considers. Meanwhile, he told, such
installations till now remain on still not withdrawn to 50-th Russian army base
of Gudauta. Leadership of Abkhazia more than once declared, that it has the
appropriate forces and means for destruction of any Georgian planes in air space
of Abkhazia, told Irakli Aladashvili.
In
the meantime, president of Georgia, Eduard Shevardnadze on a briefing in Tbilisi
on Monday declared, that yet he has no information on presence of «Russian
trace» in the events occurring recently on uncontrollable by Georgian
authorities of territory of Kodori Gorge of Abkhazia. To speak about certain
provocation of Russia in this region it is possible only at a level of guesses,
however all necessary details will clear up already within the next few days, he
told.
If
in these events, «Russian trace» however, will be found out, told
Shevardnadze, first it will be declared by the voice of the head of the state.
Thus he told that in Kodori Gorge, as well as, as a whole in Abkhazia «there is
nothing especial». Edward Shevardnadze is sure, that in the near future, he
however, will meet the Prime Minister of Abkhazia Anri Jergenia and will manage
to settle the situation.
In
Abkhazia, general mobilization has been declared. Tatyana Gulija informed about
it on Monday the press secretary of representation of Abkhazia in Moscow. As she
said, it is connected to a situation in republic - authorities of Abkhazia are
concerned with affinity of the armed group to Sukhumi. According to defensive
department of Abkhazia, the group is in mountains at 20-40 kms from Sukhumi.
Earlier in Abkhazia partial mobilization was declared.
