Chechens have been sent to Sochi

Sukhumi insists on its own outlook of events.

In territory of Kodorsky gorge of Gulripshsky district of Abkhazia controlled by Georgian authorities, there are no armed formations, and they, naturally, do not conduct there any operations. Defence Minister of Georgia made such an announcement. In the document, it is emphasized, that the report published by MASS MEDIA, that divisions of Georgian army took part in armed conflict at village Georgievskoe, do not correspond to validity.

Administration of the Defence Ministry of Georgia within the framework of its competence provides safety to the population of that part of Kodorsky gorge, which remained under jurisdiction of the central authorities of the country after Georgian-Abkhaz war of the years 1992-1993, it is marked in the announcement. Defence Minister of Georgia declares, that it is ready to co-operate with it, so that employees of mission of military observers of the United Nations might introduce with the situation in territory of Kodorsky gorge controllable by the Georgian authorities.

In the meantime, Abkhazian side continues to pronounce, that there were fights in village Georgievskoe. Moreover, Sukhumi declares, that group, «with which the Abkhazian side conducted battles for village Georgievskoe, was commanded by Chechen field commander Ruslan Gelayev». Prime Minister of Republic of Abkhazia, Anri Jergenia, declared it to journalists in Sukhumi. Jergenia also informed, that basic purpose of the group of Gelayev was to make a way into Russian resort city of Sochi, and also an attack on the Russian armies, which were deployed in Abkhazia.

«Group in whose structure were about 400 Chechens, all over again planned to grasp village Tsebelda in Abkhazia to create there a base camp, and to carry out then the operations from there», - told Anri Jergenia. Foreign Minister of Abkhazia, Sergey Shamba declared this, referring to indications of detainees. As he said, «insurgents intended to sow a panic in Sochi».
