Chief of the Joint Staff of armed Forces of Georgia, Johnny Pirtshalaishvili categorically denies messages that on Wednesday and on Thursday in Abkhazia, there were fights for village Georgievskoe of Gulripshsky district between the Abkhazian subdivisions and the Georgian-Chechen group. In the broadcasting of the first channel of Georgian TV, Johnny Pirtshalaishvili referring to own sources and Russian peacemakers told, that there are no operations neither in Kodor gorge, nor in area of village Georgievskoe. The chairman working in pro-Georgian «Council of Ministers of the Abkhazian autonomous republic», Londer Tsaava considers Tbilisi that Sukhumi authorities intentionally «exaggerate» around of events at village Georgievskoe of Gulripshsky district. Abkhazians cannot reconcile in any way that that the Kodorsky gorge remains under the control of the Georgian authorities, they, together with Russian side would like to establish there the same orders, as well as in other territories of Abkhazia, declared Tsaava.

In Sukhumi still assert that the group of Georgian guerrilla and Chechen fighters on Thursday was forced to leave seized by them on the eve of village Georgievskoe of Gulripshsky district of Abkhazia. As Minister for Foreign Affairs of Republic, Sergey Shamba informed journalists in Sukhumi, now in this area are concentrated 400-500 Georgian and Chechen fighters. As he said, they are concentrated in 5 kilometers from village Georgievskoe. Shamba noted, that armed group left the village only after armed forces of Abkhazia applied artillery and armored engineering.

The Head of Abkhazian Foreign Ministry emphasized, that in village has been revealed plenty of arms and ammunition, which were left by the armed group during their escape from the area. As he said, in captivity has been taken some fighters, including «citizens of Russia from republics of Northern Caucasus». Shamba noted: «some armed insurgents were destroyed». He informed about losses of the Abkhazian side.
