In
address of editorial board of Kavkaz-Сenter
came many letters with the most various opinions on occurring events in the
world. We publish some of these letters on a forum, and some we bring to
attention of our constant readers. Today we publish one such opinion of our
reader, which, unfortunately, has subscribed only to no one.
«Now
is widening discussion that how Russia should behave concerning actions of
Washington directed on launching the next military conflict in Afghanistan. To
tell the truth, absolutely, I don’t understand pleasure of some Russian «hurrah
– patriots» in connection with planned military actions in this country. I
think, that to their hopes that Americans will put military defeat to Taliban
and thus will help to solve, any Russian geopolitical problems, no less
than that Afghans will break «American carriers» on the first and by that will
bring down their arrogance, and those will be withdrawn for ever back home and
come true not judged. Most likely, business is absolutely different - USA
actually is not going to be actively at war in Afghanistan.
A
principle «water turns stone» – air strikes, local special actions, will
carry out, war most likely. Certainly, such tactics not will allow achieving a
final military victory, but will allow Americans seriously and for a long time
to fix the military presence in central Asian region. All this fuss around the
struggle against international terrorism is necessary for the Americans anxious
with activity and aggression of the Russian plans on Caucasus and in Central
Asia, and not only to designate geopolitical interests in the given region
but also to start to implement these policies. The Russian politicians should
understand, that if Americans will come, it means only one - Russians are «having
rest». Many factors indirectly testifying that henceforth the opinion of the
White house in this region became more important than opinion of the Kremlin.
For
example, I was recently on a business trip to Kazakhstan and listened on local
TV to press conference of President Nazarbayev.
A question of the Russian journalist: «How much the position of Russia
influences the position of Kazakhstan concerning military actions forthcoming in
Afghanistan?» Sincere bewilderment on person of Nazarbayev – «And why do you
mention here Russia? I talk with many, with Americans, Uzbeks,
Tajiks,
Kyrgyz, and
with Putin as well among many to whom I talked - discussed
some questions". We speak,
that the
state is independent and we decide how to deal with the situation.
As
a whole the answer of the president of Kazakhstan was reduced to the following -
we render Americans comprehensive support if those are required, and we are not
going to ask anything from Putin in this connection. About the same, that there
is «CIS» agreement about collective security, bilateral treaty with Russia
about mutual aid, he at all did not mention. If Nazarbayev (the most loyal to
Russia from all central - Asian presidents) so conducts himself, what is
possible to speak about Karimov, Turkmenbashi and other, not having even the
common borders with Russia?
Hopes
of the Kremlin hawks, to understand a fuse of struggle against «international
terrorism» that Americans will help Russian with Chechens, as well are deprived
of all bases. I do not doubt, that the position of USA on Chechen problem remain
the same - the state should not assimilate to terrorists and rights of civilians
should to be observed without dependence, what purposes are put before itself
with this state. Moreover, taking into account interest of Americans in easing
positions of Russia on Caucasus, I shall not be surprised, if shortly arsenals
of the Chechen resistance will be filled up with new «Stingers» and other
kinds of arms.
So,
that
Russia,
in my opinion, today, objectively, the most disinterested side, in the beginning
of the Afghan war, consequence of which can become an additional pressure on it
without that the heated southern boundaries, easing of influence on the central
Asian neighbors, and their transition into a zone of the American attraction
with all consequences following from here. It is a kind of expansion of NATO to
the East only from the other side».
