In
newspaper "Novaya Gazeta",
quotations from file on Putin are published. According to journalist, Oleg
Lure, partial electronic version of this document, he received it two years back
from an unknown person, who informed, that when Putin in 1999 held a post of
head of Federal security service, the file on him was destroyed, but one
employee has had time to copy the data.
Authenticity
of the file as the newspaper writes, it is not possible to confirm, therefore
copies of electronic document were directed to Putin's administration and to
several experts with request to confirm or deny its authenticity. As the
newspaper emphasizes, at the moment of signing number was not received any
answer from the Kremlin, therefore in the newspaper, some quotations from the
file and opinions of experts are published only.

Further
in the file, Vladimir Putin's activity is mentioned during his work in Committee
on External connections of mayoralty of St. Petersburg: "After A.Sobchak's
election on June 12, 1991, mayor of Saint Petersburg V.Putin was appointed
chairman of Committee on External Connections of mayoralty. Activity of V.Putin
caused criticism of deputies Petrosoveta, in particular, Alexander Belyaev
accused him that in mayoralty typical methods of work of GRU are transferred:
information is collected about entire firm, which all time is resold to
foreigners".
One
of sources of "Novoya Gazeta", from former employees of Leningrad UFSB declared, that file on Putin gathered, and in the newspaper,
real data about him are given. "Novoya Gazeta" hopes, that Putin will
answer this publication and will comment on it. "Novoya Gazeta is read by
his voters, and I think, that it would be not so striking to get rid of retort
of press-secretary", - journalist Lure declared.
