The secretary of Council of National
Security and Defense Eugeny Marchuk began negotiations with opposition on order
of President Leonid Kuchma. Marchuk has met with deputy and member of opposition
Forum of National Rescue, Vladimir Filenko. " It was introductory
conversation on the future contacts of authority and opposition ", - words
of Press-Secretary Forum Alexander Krivenko quoted by Polish " Gazeta
Wyborcza ".
But Forum is not interested in the
point that side of authority in negotiations with opposition is represented by
Marchuk, the ex-general of KGB, who in Soviet time was engaged in prosecution of
dissidents, writes the Polish edition. " We shall discuss about details
still, " - speaks Krivenko, - " we shall demand with full confidence
that Kuchma has publicly recognized that opposition exists, and the Forum of
National Rescue is its best opponent ".
Let's remind, that till this time,
President Kuchma recognized only communists as opposition, and ironically
advised to members of the Forum that they should " register their
organization in Ministry of Justice.
The Polish leaders consider that,
probably, to negotiations with opposition, President of Ukraine pushed
negotiations with Polish president Alexander Kvasnevski, which were held after
events of March, 9, when there were clashes between members of opposition and
employees of law enforcement organs. Kvasnevski then offered Polish "round
table", to Kuchma, which the Polish authority used in negotiations with its
opposition. Kuchma refused from offer of Polish colleagues, but soon dismissed
Minister of Internal Affairs Jury Kravchenko, appointing him on the post of Jury
Smirnov, who was supervising Kiev militia till those days.
" I do not know, whether it is
possible to connect the fact of the beginning of conversations with opposition
to recent meeting of Presidents Alexander Kvasnevski and Leonid Kuchma in
Kazimeg Dolnai but after that the situation has a little calmed down in Ukraine
", - Polish newspaper is quoting words of Minister Marek Sivets, head of
the Bureau of National Security of Poland, traveling to Kiev on Tuesday with
one-day visit.
In the meantime Exe Vice-Premier
Minister of Ukraine, the leader of party "Batkivshina" - Julia
Timoshenko is in hospital for treatment.
Her exact site of stay is not
disclosed. However, as soon as she will feel better, Timoshenko necessarily will
meet press, as informed by Ukrainian sources. We shall remind that during half
month stay in Lukyanov ÿõãí, stomach
ulcer of Julia Timoshenko has become aggravated, and her weight has decreased by
more than 10 kg. It was repeatedly emphasized both by her lawyer, and
representative of Human Rights, Nina Karpacheva during consideration by
Pecherski regional court, complaints of lawyer Timoshenko about her illegal
arrest. On Tuesday the court made the decision of release Timashenko.
