The president of Azerbaijan
Heider Aliev, after completing on Saturday evening his official visit to Turkey, has
declared journalists at the airport of Baku that he is the supporter of
deployment of Turkish military bases in Azerbaijan. As he said, " it would
be good, if it takes place ". After having negotiations with military
authorities of Turkey, he noted, that they held secret talks and did not
disclose the detail. At the same time, according to Heider Aliev, during
negotiations with Turkish military command, the preliminary arrangement on
signing the agreement in sphere of military cooperation was achieved. The
president of Azerbaijan has declared, that during his visit, they discussed
details of construction of the pipeline of Baku – Tbilisi-Jeihan, and also a
question on deliveries of the Azerbaijan gas from deposit of "Shah-Deniz"
to Turkey. " It is not only the economic question, but also a political,
strategic question ", - declared Heider Aliev. During the visit of Heider
Aliev to Turkey from 13 to 17 of March, he signed 9 intergovernmental documents.
In the meantime, news has come from Washington, that next meeting of presidents
of Armenia and Azerbaijan - Robert Kocharjan and Heider Aliev – will be held
in April, 3 in Key West - Florida state of USA. As it is marked in the
announcement of the state Department of USA, the state secretary of United
States Colin Powell has personally invited presidents of these countries to
Florida on April 3. Co-chairmen of the Minsk group of OSCE will arrive to
Florida from Russia, USA and France also. The American co-chairman of the Minsk group of OSCE on the Karabakh issue
ambassador Keri Kavano does not exclude the possibility the forthcoming meeting
of presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan to become decisive.
At the same time, newspaper Daily Citizen issued in Florida informs
that the American diplomat has refrained to predict results of a meeting of
Robert Kocharjana and Heider Aliev. " It would be fine, if this meeting
appeared last, but it is necessary to take into account that to achieve peace is
really not so easy ", - noted Keri Kavano. He declared, that about 100
diplomats and negotiators representing countries of co-chairmen of the Minsk
group of OSCE and the state secretary of USA Colin Powell will take part in a
meeting of presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan. The American diplomat noted,
that the decision on holding the meeting of presidents in Key West was passed
with view that there is insignificant number of Armenians and Azerbaijanians
living there.
