The International Agencies continue their comments on the issue of
hijacking of the Russian plane, which was on its routine flight from Istanbul to
Moscow. According to Turkish authorities, hijackers are Chechens armed with
knifes and explosives. Knife stabbing seriously wounded Steward Alexander
Khromov, one of members of crew. There is latest information about wounding of 3
more passengers. The Western agencies inform that during the moment of capture
of the plane, some fight arose inside and as a result the plane lost orientation
and has sharply came down to a height of 400 meters from the ground. There are
166 passengers onboard, more than 50 are citizens of Turkey. The plane has
landed at the airport of Madinah on Thursday evening. The Russians authorities
declared that they are ready to send a group of commandos to Madinah for freeing
the plane. However the Saudi authorities have rather sharply reacted to the
offer of the Kremlin - "Kafirs are not allowed to enter the holy city of
Madinah!" Mecca and Madinah are sacred for the Muslims all over world.
At entrance to both cities, huge signboards are hanging telling an interdiction
of entrance for kafirs to these sacred cities.
Official representatives of Aslan Maskhadov in Turkey have rejected any
participation of the Chechens in hijacking of the plane. As informed by
"Chechen Press" - " Capture of hostages and blackmailing is not
our methods of conducting struggle ", - it is marked in the special
announcement of official Chechen representation in Turkey. Military divisions of
Saudi Arabia have surrounded the airport of Madinah. AFP has informed that
administration of King Abdel' Aziz airport at Madinah has arrived on Thursday
evening on the site of event to settle the problem. The general consul of Russia
in Turkey Sergey Velichkin has declared on live broadcasting of NTV that there
is no exact information about the hijackers of " Vnukovo Airlines".
According to the consul, the hijackers are Chechens, but independent
confirmations of this information are not available. As Velichken informed while
it is not clear that the hijacker are carrying which type of arms and whether
they have explosive in addition to the knifes and how they managed to carry it
into the plane. The Russian side is actively commenting on capture of the plane
"Vnukovo Airlines". RIA-News referring to state structures of the
Russian Federation declares that hijackers may be Chechens, brothers of Arsaev,
and one of the purposes of capture of the Russian passenger plane TU - 154 may
be the freeing of the relatives of Arsaev, who according to their statement, was
arrested on the eve by the Russian authorities in territory of the Russian
Federation.
Later the information from the Russian side about the demands of hijackers of
plane has appeared. Hijackers have asked for the to end the war in the Chechen
Republic in one of their demands. Alexander Klimov - executive director of
"Vnukovo Airlines" has informed about it. Thus he referred to
negotiations of representatives of airline with pilots of TU-154, conducted
before landing the plane in Madinah. However official confirmation of this
information on the part of the Saudi authorities was not announced. On Thursday
evening, the hijackers have released more than 40 persons, mostly women, old men
and one child among passengers and as well as citizens of Turkey. The injured
persons have also been released. The Saudi authorities inform that hijackers
have refused to contacts Chechens living in Madinah. Local observers mark that
hijackers have not put forward any precise demand.
